Hot Jazz describes a style of music that had its height of popularity during the years of prohibition. It was a time of when only a few speakeasies were around and could offer a venue for live music with a limited number of clubs, only the very best musicians would be invited to perform. It was the circumstances that led to what we now call Hot Jazz.
