Newsletter : November 2007
Dear Friends,
We are extremely happy to announce that Art of Field Recording Volume I, Melodii Tuvi, and Black Mirror are now in stock and available for ordering either with Paypal or Mastercard/Visa. In an attempt to provide you a better idea of the diverse music Art of Field Recording covers, we have created a short video featuring some of the artists on the set with a brief infomercial at the end. Click here to watch the video.
Looking forward, we are very excited about the projects slated for next year. Victrola Favorites is scheduled for release in January. A few months later we will commemorate the 50 year anniversary of the first recordings of John Fahey with a 3 CD set. A box set of pre-war music from Georgia is scheduled to come out in mid-2008 with a correlating exhibit at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Two books are also in the works: a book of antique photographs of baptism scenes and a reader that compiles articles from Old Time Music magazine. Click here to read more about our forthcoming titles.
The aforementioned trailer for Art of Field Recording contains footage we shot for a film about old-time, traditional women musicians of Georgia. The film should be available on DVD by 2009. In the meantime, Art Rosenbaum is preparing the tracks and annotations for Volume II of Art of Field Recording.
Finally, we have more details about the November 24 release party for Art of Field Recording Volume I. The show will take place in Athens, Georgia at the Melting Point (706-254-6909). Doors will open at 6 with the music starting at 7:30. The venue can sit 250 people at tables, and the chef has prepared a custom Southern-style menu for the event.
